본당소개 About Parish

• 보스턴 한인 천주교회는 1976년 원필호 신부와 교우들이 보스톤 한인 천주교회의 창립을 논의하여 7월 25일 성 프란치스코 성당에서 첫 미사를 봉헌함으로써 첫 걸음을 내디 뎠습니다.
• 1980년 11월 2일부터 뉴욕에서 사목을 하던 남해근 신부가 미사를 집전하게 되었으며, 이때 성심 성당으로 옮기게 되었습니다. 
• 그 후 1981년 6월 19일 대구 대교구에서 곽길우 신부가 부임하였으며, 이때 주일학교와 사목회를 구성하여 점차 안정된 본당의 모습을 갖추어 나갔고, 보스톤 북부와 스프링 필드 그리고 로드 아일랜드까지 사목지역을 넓혔습니다.
• 1984년 7월 5일 김용효 신부가 부임하였으며, 그해 8월 성 브리지드 성당으로 이전 하였습니다. 그리고 1994년 2월에 이정추 신부가 부임하였고, 1996년 1월 성 필립네리 성당으로 이전하였습니다.
• 그후 1999년에는 박영일 신부가 주임신부로 취임하여 2001년에 설립 25주년을 맞이한 한인 공동체에는 약 720명의 교우들이 등록되어 있습니다.
• 2002년 12 월에는 박승재 신부, 2007년 4월부터는 정광호 신부가 주임신부로 취임 하였습니다.
• 2012년 11월 11일 성 필립네리 성당에서 마지막 주일 미사를 마치고 현재의 코르푸스 크리스티 성당으로 이전하여 11월 18일에서 첫 주일 미사를 올렸습니다.
• 2013년 성 앙뚜안 다블뤼 한인 성당 (St. Antoine Daveluy Korean Parish)이라는 이름으로 보스턴 대교구 산하 준본당(Quasi-Parish)으로 인정되어 12월 22일 기념 미사를 봉헌 하였습니다.
• 2016년 10월 보스턴 한인성당 설립 40주년 기념미사를 봉헌하였습니다.
• 2024년 1월 15일 보스턴 대교구 소속 배웅진 신부가 부임하며, 본당(Parish)으로 승격되었으며,1976년 한인 이민자들의 자생적인 모임으로 시작한 지 48년만의 뜻깊은 일입니다.
• 2024년 1월 28일 리드 보좌 주교 집전으로 배웅진 주임 신부 취임 미사를 봉헌하였으며 2025년 7월 1일 부임한 김재익 보좌신부와 함께 사목활동을 펼치고 있습니다.

• The Boston Korean Catholic Church took its first steps on July 25, 1976, when Father Phil-ho Won and early parishioners gathered to discuss founding a Korean Catholic community and celebrated their very first Mass at St. Francis Church.
• On November 2, 1980, Father Hae-geun Nam, who had been ministering in New York, began celebrating Mass for the community, and the parish relocated to Sacred Heart Church at this time.
• Subsequently, on June 19, 1981, Father Kil-woo Kwak from the Archdiocese of Daegu was appointed to the parish. Under his guidance, the community established its Sunday School and Parish Pastoral Council, gradually shaping into a stable parish and expanding its pastoral care to northern Boston, Springfield, and Rhode Island.
• On July 5, 1984, Father Yong-hyo Kim arrived, and the community relocated to St. Brigid Church in August of that year. In February 1994, Father Jeong-chu Lee was appointed, and the parish moved to St. Philip Neri Church in January 1996.
• Later, in 1999, Father Young-il Park took office as the pastor. By 2001, as the community celebrated its 25th anniversary, the registered parishioner base had grown to approximately 720 members.
• Father Seung-jae Park became the pastor in December 2002, followed by Father Kwang-ho Jeong in April 2007.
• On November 11, 2012, the community celebrated its final Sunday Mass at St. Philip Neri Church and relocated to the current Corpus Christi Church, holding its first Sunday Mass there on November 18.
• In 2013, the community was officially recognized as a Quasi-Parish under the Archdiocese of Boston under the name "St. Antoine Daveluy Korean Parish," celebrating a commemorative Mass on December 22.
• In October 2016, the community celebrated a special Mass to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Boston Korean Catholic Church.
• On January 15, 2024, Father Woong-jin Bae from the Archdiocese of Boston arrived, and the community was officially elevated to a full Parish. This was a deeply meaningful milestone, coming 48 years after its humble beginnings as a self-starting gathering of Korean immigrants in 1976.
• On January 28, 2024, an installation Mass for Pastor Father Woong-jin Bae was celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Robert Reed. Father Bae currently carries out his pastoral ministry alongside Parochial Vicar Father Jae-ik Kim, who joined the parish on July 1, 2025.
